Soft Solid–Solid Soft represents an ongoing method development, exploring how traditionally gendered crafts and materials can work together within contemporary design.

The research for developing this method centers around the interaction between hand-knitted yarns and composite materials, where the interaction between the two determines the final artistic outcome. Hand knitted yarns act as a representative of soft, traditional crafts that are often associated with female practices. Composites are modern building materials often expected to be utilized within male-dominated crafts and constructions.

Soft Solid–Solid Soft investigates the aesthetic qualities of the combination of the male and female energies and highlights the often uncontrollable outcome of this fusion, while aiming to contribute to a deeper understanding of how different materials can work together to create new material experiences.
